When Vice President of India Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu was on his State visit last week, what happened is, on that very morning between 9.45 am and 10.20 am, the roads on both sides from Porvorim up to Mapusa were totally closed for the public as well as for the motorists to ply on these roads because the Vice President of India had to pass by. I had an appointment to a private doctor in Panjim and my car was held in the queue for almost 20 to 25 minutes and could not make for my appointment on time.
It is very sad that the government closes certain roads to felicitate the dignitaries to pass by thus putting the general public in great inconvenience. Whoever, the dignitaries may be, we should understand that he is a person like us and he should be allowed to move along with the public and then only he will know the difficulties of the general public.
