A photo of a recent accident scene which has occurred at the Dona Paula junction between the two vehicles, one was coming from Bambolim and other was going towards the main slope of Dona Paula.
This spot is well-known for accidents and every two days one witnesses accidents minor as well as major. I have been reporting constantly of such accidents happening on this slope near the Nelson Bar and Restaurant where the road narrows down and nobody including Traffic Cell, PWD, Corporation of The City of Panaji nor the panchayat have solved this problem.
With the tourism project coming up for bus stand just near the accident site, the situation has further aggravated. This turn is so critical that both the vehicle drivers cannot see each other while turning their vehicles. The residents of Dona Paula, Our Lady of Rosary School, Apna Bazar, NIO staff vehicles and White House residents are affected due to this badly designed turn.
The residents of Dona Paula have been suggesting several times to widen this slope and put some traffic signs with a circle or any other remedy to avoid such accidents but none of these authorities have so far come up with any solution but on the contrary the situation has aggravated.
This accident seen in the picture is for the authorities especially the MLA of Panjim to take remedial steps to prevent such accidents.
