Recently, fuel prices have been increasing from time to time. However, the private bus operators have remained to be the ultimate sufferers in the process.
Due to the restrictions on account of COVID-19 pandemic, they have been compelled to restrict the number of passengers. With less number of commuters, many buses have to travel larger distance thereby involving huge quantity of diesel on daily basis. Amidst poor business, this becomes a difficult task. Even the prices of spare parts have been rising on regular basis. Under such circumstances, many bus operators have been hard hit and are unable to fulfill even the basic needs of their family members amidst the rising inflationary trend in prices of essential commodities as well.
It is time for the State government to consider the request of private bus operators quite sympathetically so that they are able to have a happy living. At present they have been demanding rise in price for the initial three kms by Rs 10. Let us hope that the bus fare would be revised on priority basis so that the bus operators are assured some relief at the moment.
