Concern raised over scrap-like conditions, space constraints and mosquito breeding due to long-abandoned two-wheelers.
A concerned citizen has urged the authorities to clear dozens of accident-damaged and seized two-wheelers lying abandoned behind the South Goa Police Headquarters, alleging that the area has effectively been turned into a scrap yard.
In his representation, Jaffar claimed that more than 50 accident and seized vehicles have remained parked at the site for several years, occupying valuable space that could otherwise be used for parking by visitors and police personnel.
He alleged that many of the vehicles have been left exposed to the elements without being disposed of, resulting in a cluttered and poorly maintained area.
Jaffar also expressed concern over the public health risks posed during the monsoon, stating that rainwater accumulates inside the abandoned vehicles, creating favourable breeding grounds for mosquitoes and increasing the risk of vector-borne diseases.
Calling for immediate action, he urged the authorities to assess the status of the vehicles, dispose of all unclaimed scrap vehicles in accordance with legal procedures and clear the area to improve cleanliness, public hygiene and space management at the South Goa Police Headquarters.
