On the occasion of World Heart Day, civic group Madganvcho Awaaz renewed its appeal to the Goa government to demonstrate its commitment to healthcare by commissioning a much-needed Cath Lab at the Hospicio South Goa District Hospital.
Speaking at the gathering, youth leader Prabhav Naik underscored the gravity of the issue, noting that South Goa has already witnessed avoidable tragedies due to the absence of such a critical facility.
“Every time there is a cardiac emergency, patients and their families are forced to rush to Goa Medical College at Bambolim or seek treatment at private hospitals. In many cases, the delay of even an hour can cost a life,” Naik said.
burden on citizens
He further pointed out that the situation unfairly burdens ordinary citizens, particularly those who cannot afford expensive private healthcare or do not have quick access to transport.
Madganvcho Awaaz has been consistently pressing for the establishment of a Cath Lab at the South Goa District Hospital, stressing that the facility is vital to ensure timely treatment for cardiac patients in the region.
