MARGAO: A public meeting convened by citizen groups in Colva to discuss the Regional Plan 2021 (RP21) unanimously resolved to reject the Plan and called for its immediate scrapping.
The Colva Civic and Consumer Forum, in association with Goans for Sustainable Development (GSD), also conducted a PowerPoint presentation on the RP2021 at the Our Lady of Merces Church hall in Colva on Sunday. A large number of people attended the meeting.
While the government has extended the time limit to file objections/suggestions to January 18, Colva locals found faults with the RP21 for Colva and Benaulim constituencies and the coastal belt. They recalled that the BJP had put it in his election manifesto that it would scrap the regional plan and questioned its double standards on the issue.
Earlier held a similar presentation at Lohia Maidan, Margao, where the crowd had also unanimously called for the scrapping of the RP21. This came on the heels of Salcete panchayats passing resolutions against RP21.
