PERNEM: The concerned citizens of Pernem on Monday demanded the registration of an FIR against the contractor holding him responsible for the two landslides at Malpem and Mahakhazan-Dhargalim on Saturday.
They have also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the wake of the two landslides along the national highway 66.
The citizens submitted a complaint letter to the Pernem police station, demanding to lodge an FIR against MVR Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, which has been carrying out the highway construction work. They also demanded proper supervision of the ongoing works by the government authorities.
On Saturday, four tourists from Dhapoli, Maharashtra had a miraculous escape on NH 66 when a boulder bounced inches over their car and another fell in front of their vehicle at Malpem. In the second landslide, a huge boulder came crashing and settled on the retaining wall at Mahakhazan, Dhargalim.
Sanjay Barde alleged that the contractor MVR was the son-in-law of the BJP government and hence no action was taken against him.
Suraj Kambli said the govt was out to drain the State treasury. Dipesh Naik demanded that action be taken against contractor MVR and PWD engineers, who were supervising the NH 66 work. Sitesh More was also part of the delegation that met the Pernem police.
