PANJIM: The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has asked citizens to surrender ration cards if their family income is above Rs 5 lakh per annum.
The department has also asked citizens with over Rs 50,000 family income and holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards (pink in colour) and Priority Household (PHH) ration cards (pink in colour) to get them changed to Above Poverty Line (APL) ration cards (yellow in colour) type.
The facilities linked with AAY and PHH cards are only for the benefit of those below the poverty line. Citizens have been urged to get the changes done within period of 30 days. The department has warned of initiating strict action against violators.
In another circular, the department has asked government servants holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards or Priority Household (PHH) ration cards to get them changed if their family income is above Rs 50,000 per annum. Also if the family income is more than Rs five lakh per annum, then ration cards should be surrendered by submitting the departmental Form ‘D’ to respective taluka Civil Supplies office within 30 days.
The department has warned that due action will be taken under the Service Rules if any government servant is found violating the guidelines during field inspection by respective taluka Civil Supplies officials or in case of any public complaints.
The department has also asked the head of departments to circulate the circular amongst all the government officials/officers working in their respective departments and corporations and to obtain an undertaking from each officer/official to this effect.
