City cops bust prostitution racket, 5 held

PANJIM, OCT 30 
The Panjim police today busted a major prostitution racket arresting two boys and rescuing three girls from the city this evening.
According to the Panjim Police Inspector Sandesh Chodankar the racket was run from Benaulim.
He said that all the girls rescued are from Mumbai while the boys are from Margao.
The two boys arrested are Amjad Hussein Khan and Manoj Kumar, aged between 23 to 25 years; he said adding that the police are on the look out for their third partner Javed.
“We received reliable information that the prostitution racket is run from Benaulim and based on this we laid a trap,” Chodankar told Herald.
He further said that the police sent a decoy and asked them to send three girls in Panjim.
“Amjad and Manoj came with the girls in a Hyundai Accent car near Junta House according to the deal and they were immediately arrested while the three girls were rescued,” he said.
The silver Accent car GA 02 J 4847 was also attached by the police.
Further the investigating officer said that all the girls were between 20 to 25 years of age.
There seems to be rise in the number of cases booked under the Immoral Trafficking Act with the Women’s Police Station recently arresting a beauty parlour owner and rescuing 11 girls in a raid at Porvorim.
Two months ago the Calangute police too in a raid had rescued over 20 girls from Calangute-Candolim beach belt.
