PANJIM: Panjim police have booked four bouncers of a city-based pub for allegedly threatening and assaulting two local youth late Thursday night.
Panjim PI Siddhant Shirodkar said that brothers Amit and Amar Sawant complained that unidentified bouncers restrained them from entering the pub, and threatened and assaulted them when they attempted to get in.
“The boys (victims) were repeatedly requested in the past as well not to enter the pub as they would always be under the influence of alcohol. The pub also had girls and their safety would be in question. But the brothers did not listen and forcibly tried to enter when there was a scuffle,” the officer said quoting a statement of a witness. The victims were tested for alcohol and allegedly found positive.
The police are nonetheless going through CCTV footage of the premises as part of the probe. The accused, yet to face arrest, have been booked under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (causing hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage), 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) read with 34 (common intention) of IPC.
