PANJIM: Civil Society group will hold a candlelight vigil for the victims of the recent spate of rapes on Wednesday, August 4 pm at Miramar beach circle at 6:30 pm.
The organisers have appealed to all citizens of Goa, youth and women in particular, to join the candlelight vigil in condemning the increase in violent and sexual crimes against women in Goa.
Safety of all women is a fundamental right, wherever they may go or at whatever time they may go. Hence, the meet will also demand measures for increased safety for women in public spaces by the State administration, combined with strict and timely punishment for offenders and justice for victims of such crimes.
They have called upon the youth to spread the word on social media with the hashtag #MakeGoaSafe and to strictly adhere to COVID-19 norms such as social distancing and wearing face mask while attending the candlelight vigil.
