PANJIM: In a bid to curb theft cases, Civil Supplies and Price Control Minister Govind Gaude said that all godowns of the civil supplies department would be under CCTV surveillance for which the tender would be floated soon.
Speaking to Herald, Gaude said, “The file relating to this has already been cleared by me and the tender will be floated soon. There are a total of 11 godowns out of which seven will be fitted with CCTV in the first phase while the remaining four have to go for major maintenance.”
“We can expect that by April-May the seven godowns will be under CCTV scanner and the remaining will take a little time as out of the remaining four godowns, two need major maintenance while the other two require minor repairs,” he added.
The minister also said that all fair price shops will have to install Point of Sale (PoS) machines by March 31, 2018 and arrangements for this have been made.
“I already had a meeting with fair price shop owners. At the meeting there was only one important point which we have taken up on priority, that of PoS machines. Arrangements have been made to provide these at all fair price shops as I have made it compulsory that the shops must have it”
“By March 31, 2018 all fair price shops will install POS machines. This decision was unanimously accepted and there was no objection. The number of fair price shops in Goa is 456, of which 42 have already installed it on a pilot basis,” he said.
