MARGAO: Accusing the Administrator and Managing Director of Goa Dairy of not consulting four directors of the society, former chairman Rajesh Phaldessai asserted that the MD’s statement of the dairy making a profit is false.
“There is no way there could be profit given the fact that earnings have dropped and expenditure has increased,” he said.
Briefing media persons in the presence of two other directors Aselmo Furtado and Babu Komarpant, Phaldessai said four of them who have not been disqualified and continue to be directors, but are not consulted in any matter by MD Raghunath Dhuri or the Administrator Damodar Morajkar.
He said that milk purchased from Goan farmers has been sold at a cheaper rate outside Goa, thus incurring loss and further pointed out that the raw material used to prepare cattle feed has increased by Rs 2 or 3 per kg and hence the expenditure too has increased.
He demanded that if the dairy is making a profit the extra earnings be shared with the Goan farmers. He lamented that the new body has not acted upon many of the progressive decisions his board had taken in the interest of dairy farming.
