MARGAO: Asserting that the Forum for Rights of Children’s Education (FORCE) is a non-political organisation and would not support any political party in the elections, the forum has asked the BJP to clarify its stand on MoI and whether the party would revert the Cabinet decision to give grants to English medium schools in view the support extended to the party by the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM).

“We want to ask the BJP whether the party wants English or not. Neither Manohar Parrikar nor Vishnu Wagh have cleared their stance while BBSM has decided to support the  BJP on MoI”, FORCE secretary Savio Lopes said, while saying it is obligation of the BJP to clarify its stand on the issue.

Replying to a question, he said FORCE is requesting all political parties and individuals to make its stand clear on MoI, but hastened to add that FORCE is insisting on the clarification from the BJP since BBSM is supporting them.

“Let the BJP and other political parties clarify whether they would revert the decision on government grants to English medium schools”, he demanded.

He also urged BBSM to get the BJP spell out in their election manifesto that they will revert the Cabinet decision giving choice to the parents to choose the medium of instruction.

FORCE treasurer Sinthia Da Costa has asked former Goa Board Chairman P R Nadkarni to explain to the people of Goa how the children studying in Bhatikar English Medium School would protect the culture and mother tongue of Goa.

Welcoming the clear stand taken for choice to parents for medium of instruction by the Trinamool Congress and GVP in their election manifesto, FORCE has urged every political party or independents contesting elections to make a clear commitment to parents whether they support English as a choice along with Konkani/Marathi.
