MARGAO: The Quepem Police have registered an offence against an unknown youth following allegations of rape of a minor hailing from Quepem. The complainant is a Class IX student of a high school in Quepem. The police said the incident occurred some time between April and June. The girl’s father had died 3 months ago. Her mother had become a recluse and remained at home. However, when she witnessed that her daughter was not keeping well, she took her to a doctor and it was revealed that she was 7-month pregnant. The cops then sent her to GMC to corroborate the test. At GMC, too, she tested pregnant.
The girl gave in following police questioning and revealed the names of two boys and she said she was warned not to name all those involved. The culprites are students of students Class XII (Commerce stream) in a college in Quepem. “The girl is being treated at a private hospital in Panaji and the accused will soon be arrested,” said the Police Inspector of Quepem Pravin Gawas.
