PANJIM: For Class X students, who find mathematics tough, can now opt for Mathematics Level 2, wherein the difficultly level would be at lower side.
The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) have introduced Mathematics Level 2 for Class X for the current academic year. The Academic Council of the Board during its meeting held in February, decided to introduce the subject.
“The syllabus of Mathematics level 2 is same as that of Level 1, only question paper will be different with difficulty level of the questions on lower side,” the Board Secretary Bhagirath Shetye said in the circular issued to all secondary schools.
The Board said that the students who do not desire to continue Mathematics after Class X and those who do not want to pursue Science Stream after SSC can opt for Mathematics Level 2.
The students will be permitted to answer the Level 2 with prior permission of the Board.
GBSHSE said that since the syllabus is same, no extra teacher will be provided to conduct the classes of Level 2 Mathematics. There will not be separate classroom teaching for the students studying Level 2 Mathematics and if so, no extra work load will be counted for teaching Mathematics Level 2.
The Board has asked the schools to identify the students interested to opt for Mathematics Level 2 at SSC Board Examination of March 2021 and send their names by September 30 to the Joint Secretary, Academic section of the Board for further action. Last minute request will not be accepted.
