PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) is working on a tabulation formula, similar to that adopted for SSC, wherein the Class XII students are likely to be promoted based on the internal assessment done by the schools.
In a circular issued to the Higher Secondary Schools under its jurisdiction, the Goa Board has said that due to the unprecedented situation arising out of COVID-19, the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSS) examination 2021 stands cancelled.
The Board has said that Class XII assessment will be done as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. The Board has specified that if any student who is not satisfied with the assessment, an option to appear in the examination would be provided by the Board as and when the situation becomes conducive.
When contacted, GBSHSE Chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that the Board is still working on the tabulation criteria and the same will be announced once finalised.
Sources informed that policy, in lines with SSC, will be adopted to promote Class XII students. “Internal assessment by the schools will be an option,” the sources added.
While promoting students of Class X, evaluation to be based on the marks scored in the different exams for the Academic year 2020-21 and performance of Class IX.
Nearly 19,027 students were set to answer the HSSC Board exam 2021, which was supposed to be held from April 24. However, due to surge in COVID cases, the same had to be postponed initially.
