MARGAO: Stating they cannot prepare themselves for the exams in just 10 days, nearly 850 repeaters of Class XII have urged the government to scrap the exam scheduled in August and promote them on internal assessment.
The student community has also warned that they will approach the court if the government failed to hear their grievances.
Briefing the media persons along with Nationalist Congress Party leaders, here, they claimed that how come they will prepare for the exam in a short period of time. They had meetings to decide the future course of action with NCP leaders namely Adv Suhas Volvoikar, chairman Legal Cell, NCP; Yeshwal Raikar, Youth Wing leader; Franky D’Mello, Nuvem Block President, besides the parents of concerned students also attended.
Siddesh Prabhudesai, a repeater said that they have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant but nothing has been done yet.
“First thing we want to know why exam are only for us when the government had declared the exam of Class XII cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. We want the government to promote us on basis of our internal assessment, just like regular students,” he demanded.
Another student said that the Goa Board has issued circular with regard to the exam on August 5 and they are in a confused State about how to prepare for the exams in a short period of time.
Adv Volvoikar questioned why different yardsticks to the repeaters? “This is a total injustice to the student community. Especial exam only for the repeaters are not a fair decision of the Goa Board. We demand to promote these students based on their internal assessment, if not will approach the court for justice,” he stated.
While Raikar said that circular at the last moment had resulted in confusion amongst the students.
