PANJIM: Acting tough against the malpractices, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) reprimanded two students with penalty and zero mark for the subject after being caught red-handed by the supervisors while cheating during Class XII second term examination. Also, two more students were released after being issued a warning.

In one case, the student was caught with a chit with appropriate 50 mathematics formulae and was found using Google search engine for answers and using Whatsapp during the commencement of examination.
Another student was found carrying cell phone in the examination hall and picture was taken by him behind the back of block supervisor and had put the front page of the answer book as status on his Whatsapp.
Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that in both the cases, penalty of Rs 100 was imposed and students were given zero marks in the subject for second term besides a ‘Malpractice Case’ remark was also given on the mark sheet.
“Modus operandi here was that students use to come late…hurriedly go into the examination hall and with the sympathy that the student is coming late for examination, there was no frisking done and that is how they can take the mobile phones inside the hall,” he said.
Chairman said that the Board committee will decide whether these two students will be permitted to answer the supplementary examination or not.
Further, one student was caught with a written material on the Hall Ticket. The student was summoned and warning letter with the copy was marked to the principal of the concerned institution.
In fourth case, the student was found using black ink pen. “Based on the statement of the candidate and upon enquiry with the principal no malafide intention on the part of the candidate was found. Hence no action was initiated against the candidate,” Shetye said.
