PONDA: A truck cleaner from Telangana died after being run over by a truck that he was sleeping under at Curti, Ponda, on Friday.
According to Ponda police, C Shriselam Laximaiyya (23), who was the cleaner of an Andhra Pradesh-based truck, was sleeping under another truck at Curti. In the morning, the truck driver, not knowing that Laximaiyya was sleeping beneath the vehicle, pulled out of the parking spot, crushing the deceased’s head under a tyre.
Ponda police preserved the body at Ponda Sub-District Hospital, registered an offence against the truck driver for negligent driving, and are investigating the case.
Meanwhile, Curti residents have expressed anger over the incident as well as the parking of trucks along the village roads, which hindered the movement of traffic.
