MARGAO: Expressing disappointment over the deplorable state and condition of amenities of the South Goa Collectorate complex, citizens demanded that the government resolve the issue by maintaining the premises which offers services to the thousands of people in South Goa.
The citizens alleged that the condition of the toilets at the Collectorate building was pathetic.

Visitors often complained that as the floor tiles were broken, doors damaged, water strewn all over the floor, the male urinals unflushed, wash basins in bad shape, knobs broken and taps regularly ran dry.
Speaking to O Heraldo, citizens wondered whether the instructions issued by the Environment Minister Alexio Sequiera will be implemented in letter and spirit or not as the concerned authority had failed to resolve the issue in the past, despite dictates issued to them.
A few days ago, the Environment Minister had taken the concerned contractor and the officials of the Public Works Department to task, but the ground reality is different from what it looks like.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Roland Dias, a citizen from Seraulim, expressed anger and demanded an audit report of the building.
“Not just the toilets but the whole building is in a mess. The concerned minister also needs to check and get the reports of fire safety of the building,” he stated.
Dias further said that hundreds of visitors enter the premises and return back disappointed after they find the conditions of the building deplorable.
Appreciating the initiative taken by the environment minister, Sandhya Naik, citizen of Salcete stated that it is the high time the concerned minister takes weekly work reports from the contractor and the officials of the PWD so that they will be serious towards repairing and proper maintenance of the building.
Earlier, the environment minister had admitted that the condition of the toilets was pathetic and even said that there is need for repair of electrical connections.
