Clear stance on MoI panel report: kamat

MARGAO: Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat on Tuesday questioned whether the State government would now make its stand clear on Prof Bhaskar Nayak Committee report on Medium of Instruction (MoI).

“As Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has now constituted a Committee of Academicians under a politician to frame policy on higher education, will the BJP Government of Goa now make its stand clear on the report of Prof Bhaskar Nayak Committee on MoI,” Kamat asked.

The Opposition Leader said he firmly believes that committees to decide on long term policy decisions of the State should be headed by the experts in the respective fields.

“It is important that the government must make its stand clear on the primary education which is foundation for academics of every student and forms the basis for the student’s future career,” he said.

“I once again appeal to the Chief Minister to implement the Vision -2035 document prepared by Goa Golden Jubilee Development Council headed by renowned scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar and eminent personalities from various fields, which will help in transforming Goa into a progressive State,” Kamat said.

He hoped that the committee would take all the stakeholders into confidence and adopt an unbiased and neutral stand in the interest of the future generations of the State of Goa.
