Stating that it was an exercise to see for themselves what actually has been transpiring, the BJP workers said, “Yesterday some touts approached one of us and asked: ‘You want drugs? MDMA, LSD, cocaine, marijuana? You want woman? Russian for Rs 15,000. So we decided to visit the club to see for ourselves what is going on. Inside there were 15-20 women dancing. What is going on?”

Kandolkar said, “We’ve come to the police station as locals, not BJP workers. We request the chief minister to stop these businesses and we’re confident that the CM will do the needful. The way things are going on, in five years people will say they’ve come to Bangkok when they come to Calangute.”

He further said, “Recently the panchayat said they’re going to close the dance bars and they have started the legal process to do so. They should continue till all these places are closed down because we don’t want this kind of culture in Calangute which is known for its rich traditions. It really hurts to see all these illegalities in Calangute.”
