VASCO: A tragedy was averted when a tourist taxi caught fire soon after the taxi driver got down from the car to answer nature’s call. According to the information, the incident occurred at about 1 am on the four lane NH17 B road, near Naval Supply Depot on Saturday.
“As per the driver of the yellow black taxi Vishant Naik, resident of Headland Sada, he was returning home after dropping a passenger in north Goa in his Tata safari tourist taxi. When he reached near NSD, he stopped his taxi to answer nature’s call, but was shocked to note that the moment he got down from his taxi the same caught fire and within few minutes whole car was under fire. We managed to douse the flames but could not save anything inside the car,” said a fire officer from Vasco fire station who also said the reason of fire is still not known.
Taxi driver Vishant Naik claimed that it was God who saved him from being reduced to ashes.
