Closure of service road forces vehicles to ply on wrong side of highway

PONDA: It’s been three months now since service road between Kapileshwarim and Farmagudi has been closed for pending work on sewerage chambers, forcing vehicles to ply on wrong side of the highway. This is posing severe hardships to locals and tourists.

Though a diversion board for Farmagudi is put up at the service road closure site, the tourists often get confused and take wrong side of the highway.

The road closure has resulted in a chaos as many prefer to travel Farmagudi from wrong side of the highway, posing risk of accidents.

The locals said earlier the sewerage contractor had assured to complete the work by December 2022. The road digging started three months ago for sewerage chambers by closing service road. But the work doesn’t seem to end. The locals are demanding that the work should be completed on a war footing to prevent untoward incidents on the highway in near future.
