Club manager, shack owner in Anjuna held on charges of abetting drug peddling

Club Nyex manager Rohan Shetty and owner of Curlies Edwin Nunes held for allowing sale of drugs on premises; Decision on cancellation of club licences to be taken later

MAPUSA: Anjuna Police made three arrests on Tuesday, including that of the owners of Nyex Club and Curlies Shack. 
These arrests followed that of Joe Raymon Junior, aged 21, native of Kerala who was rounded up for possession of 11.04 grams of narcotic drug suspected to be charas and 0.8 grams crystal substance suspected to be MDMA all worth Rs 40,000.
They then arrested Rohan Shridhar Shetty, manager of Nyex Club, Anjuna, and Edwin Joseph Nunes, owner of Curlies Shack, under section 25 of NDPS Act.
Anjuna PI Rahul Parab said that Shetty allowed Raymon Junior to use the club premises for drug peddling. 
Nunes was arrested as despite being aware that his staff is involved in drug peddling, he allowed his waiter, Manjunath Prakash 
Anverlikar, to use the premises for drug peddling.
Anverlikar was held on Monday for possession of charas while in the parking lot of the shack. He has been remanded to three days police custody.
Parab said that primary investigation in the case is going on and they are focusing on the crime on a priority basis. He said that revoking the licences of the clubs will be dealt at the secondary stage since it requires paper work and reports to be submitted to the higher authorities who will decide on the revocation.
The PI said they will crack down on drug activities and if any person is arrested for drug peddling in restaurants, night clubs or shacks, the owners of the premises will be arrested under NDPS Act.
The PI also said that during this stage of investigation, police will concentrate on sources through which the drug peddlers are getting drugs, and whether more people are in involved. They are raiding places found suspect, he said.
