CM accuses Oppn of motivating external force to create unrest

Says no propaganda will derail government’s efforts towards building a progressive State

PANJIM: Stating that Goa has been a “victim” of “propaganda”, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday accused the Opposition parties of motivating “external forces” to create unrest in the State.

Sawant, however, maintained that no propaganda will derail the government’s efforts towards building a progressive State.

In a post on twitter, the Chief Minister said that Goa has been a victim of propaganda for the past several months, which has been “significantly fueled by external forces”.

“Some of the Opposition parties in Goa have also been motivating such external forces to create unrest in the State,” he said and added, “No propaganda shall derail our (government) sincere efforts towards building a progressive State.”

The tweet came with a hashtag India Against Propaganda (#IndiaAgainstPropaganda).

The hashtag campaign appears to refer to the recent statement by internationally famed celebs like Rihanna and Greta Thunberg against the ongoing protest on three farm laws.

Sawant’s statement was made referring to the ongoing campaign cum protests by several NGOs, backed by Opposition parties including the Congress and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) on the proposed linear projects – double tracking of railway line, widening of the National Highway and the power transmission line – passing through the Mollem wildlife.

Meanwhile in Goa, several NGOs, civil society members, educationists, environmentalists, students, youths, politicians, have come out in large against the linear projects passing through the biodiversity hotspots including Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park Mollem.

Opposition parties including Independents, grilled the government over the proposed projects during the State Assembly session last month. Ruling party MLA Alina Saldanha had also spoken against the projects.
