CM agrees probe on Garg’s bribes allegations

PORVORIM: Mounting pressure to conduct impartial inquiry into the allegations of Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg accepting bribes, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday agreed that investigation would be conducted impartially.

“The allegations leveled against IGP are of serious nature. The government feels that they are really serious,” Parsekar told the State Legislative Assembly during the last day of ongoing Monsoon session.
Vasco-based businessman Munnalal Halwai had alleged that he was forced to pay bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh to IGP when police failed to lodge an FIR in the case filed by him against an influential person from Ponda town for cheating him for Rs 1.15 crore.
