PONDA: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has agreed to meet a delegation of five representatives of sugarcane farmers on February 7 at 10 am at Panajim to discuss their issues.
This was communicated to the president of the Sanjivani Sugarcane Farmers Association by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) Vikas Gaunekar through a letter dated February 2.
It may be recalled that the farmers had planned an agitation on February 6 to highlight their pending demand.
Following the communication that the chief minister has agreed to meet them, the sugarcane farmers have called off their agitation scheduled on February 6 at the Sanjivani Sugar Factory premises.
