PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday disclosed that plans are afoot for the nationalisation of major routes in Goa by using the services of both, private buses as well as Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC) buses.

Speaking at the 42nd-anniversary celebration of the KTCL at the Panjim Bus Terminus, Sawant said that the process of nationalisation will be completed by next Dussehra. Stating that the government is looking at devising a formula to use existing private buses and KTC buses plying on various routes to give the best services to the people, Sawant said. “We do not want to disturb both but give the best service to the people.”

At the same time, the Chief Minister assured KTCL employees that no worker will be retrenched even after a significant number of electric buses are deployed and the nationalisation of more routes takes place. Existing staff will be accommodated, he said.

The Chief Minister said that efforts are also on to bring the Corporation in profit. Stating that Goa will play a major role in the Centre’s Gati Shakti scheme in logistics due to its road, rail, air and port connectivity, Sawant asked the youth to get equipped with courses related to logistics to take advantage of the job opportunities that will open up in the sector.
