CM announces what’s allowed during curfew

PANJIM: In a bid to ensure that common man is not at hardship during ongoing Janta Curfew, the State government on Monday partially relaxed the lockdown, allowing departmental stores and supermarkets, with essential commodities, to run between 6 am and 11 am from Tuesday. 

The decision was taken after holding a Cabinet Meeting; wherein partial relaxation to the lockdown was resolved. 

Addressing media persons post meeting, Sawant said that he held a meeting with Cabinet colleagues and also took opposition parties including Congress, Goa Forward Party, MGP and Independents, into confidence with regards to extending Janta Curfew. 

“It is very important that everyone has common view to fight COVID-19,” he said. 

While allowing partial relaxation, even to the industrial sector, the government has strictly directed them to ensure that labourers or employees, coming from neighbouring districts, are not allowed. 

The services that are permitted by the government during the Curfew 

* Law and Order and magisterial duties

* Police/Defence Establishments Central Police and Paramilitary Organisations

* Health, Fire, Prisons, Electricity, Water supply, bottled water and sewerage 

* Municipal services, Solid Waste Management, Community & Public Toilets 

* Animal Husbandry.  Animal/Cattle feed and Veterinary Services 

* Directorate of Accounts only for salary/wages/contingent/health & essential services related expenditure 

* Print and Electronic Media

* Banks and ATMs, Telecom, Internet and postal services 

* Shops of food, groceries, milk, bread, fruit, vegetable, meat, fish etc including department stores and super markets will be allowed to be open between 6 am and 11 am every day. 

* Dairy activities 

* Chemists including pharmaceuticals manufacturing, distribution and wholesalers 

* Petrol pumps. LPG gas, oil agencies and their godowns and transportation activities 

* Production and Manufacturing units, which require continuous process, after obtaining required permission from the Collectors 

* Manufacturing units engaged in the production of essential commodities and their packaging 

* All other services declared as Essential services from time to time by the Government of Goa 

* Private establishments that support the above services or are linked to the efforts for containment of COVID-19
