PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday appealed to the people of Goa not to neglect any symptoms and to get immediately tested and to start medical treatment amid surge in Coronavirus cases.
In a video message, Sawant said, “If you get fever or any symptoms then immediately get tested and start using hospital kit containing Paracetamol 500 mg, Doxycycline 100 mg and Ivermectin 12 mg from Day 1. If we take medicines from Day 1 then we will avoid complications and avoid hospitalisation,” he said adding that the temperature should be monitored minimum three times per day.
The Chief Minister said that the suspected COVID-19 positive person should isolate till his/her report is available, with independent room and with separate washroom as far as possible. Isolation will also help from transmitting the infection to others, he added.
Sawant cautioned that Goa is witnessing more than 20 COVID-19 deaths per day in hospitals and more than 1,000 new cases are reported daily.
Sawant said that the COVID-19 infected patients can take treatment in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim; South Goa District Hospital and ESI Hospital, Margao, Asilo Hospital, Mapusa; Sub-District Hospital, Ponda; MPT Hospital, Mormugao and 10 other private hospitals across the State, which are covered under the Deen Dayal Swastha Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a medical insurance scheme.
In order to defeat Coronavirus it is not only the government but also the co-operation of the people is required, he concluded.
Later, in the evening, the Chief Minister visited Goa Medial College and Hospital, Bambolim along with Secretary (Health) Ravi Dhawan and Secretary (Revenue) Sanjay Kumar and monitored the oxygen supply levels.
