PANJIM: Expressing confidence that priests and nuns run educational institutions with dedication to provide the best of education and values, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has assured all the facilities for the schools run by religious institutions.
He was speaking after inaugurating the secondary block of Fr Agnel Central School at Pilar on Wednesday. Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi Fr Theodore Mascarenhas blessed the block.
“With education, there is also an urgent need to tighten the value system. We are slowly losing our present generation from our hands. Let our children be modern, but let us not mix modernity with values,” said Parrikar.
Making a reference to the dictum ‘Honesty is the best policy,’ he said policy may change, but principle will never change. “Methodology may change, but values will remain the same forever,” he added.
Referring to the institutions run by religious, he said he was confident that the priests and nuns would run them with dedication, providing the best of education and values. As far as assistance from the government was concerned, excluding the grants, he assured all the facilities for the schools.
Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi Theodore Mascarenhas said Fr Agnel Central School has reached a crucial stage when it requires a lot of support. “The Society of Pilar is not a simple philanthropic association. We are a society that is moved and motivated by the love of Christ,” he said.
Earlier, the school website was inaugurated by Superior General of the Society of Pilar Fr Francis Carvalho. Prizes won by the students in the school were distributed. A cultural programme was also staged.
