Loutolim welcomes its son

Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi celebrates mass in local church and also visits school where he studied

MARGAO: The Loutolim parish extended a warm welcome to Auxiliary Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas on September 14. He was welcomed by the Parish Priest. Fr Boulais Da Costa, Assistant Parish Priests Fr George Ratos and Fr Royal Raposo, the parish council and the presidents of all the associations of the Church.
In his homily, he spoke on the significance of the Cross. He said he had close ties with Loutolim, as he had studied in Saviour of the World High School and he remembered Fr Basilio, the then parish priest and added that Loutolim was the launching pad for his priestly vocation.
Others concelebrating the mass included the Fr Da Costa, Fr Ratos and Fr Raposo. After mass, there was a programme to felicitate him.  Fr Da Costa welcomed him while Susan Vaz, Moderator of the Parish Council introduced him. Ronny and his daughter Roselle Fernandes sang a song followed by a Mando by Seby Fernandes and his group. A memento was also presented to the Bishop. The Bishop replied by thanking everybody.
On Monday, he celebrated the mass for staff and students of the Saviour of the World High School and later interacted with the students. The staff and students along with the Headmistress, Noreen Dias welcomed him and presented a programme. 
Earlier in the morning, he celebrated mass with the Ursuline Sisters at their convent.
