CM assures to complete projects in Mandrem by Dec 19

PERNEM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday assured that all pending projects in Mandrem Constituency will be ready by December 19.

He made this assurance while addressing Mandrem constituents during the inauguration of Cyclone Shelter under National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project of Water Resources Department at Junaswada, Mandrem, in presence of Mandrem MLA and GTDC Chairman Dayanand Sopte, the Water Resources Department (WRD) officials, Sarpanch Subhash Asolkar and others.

“By December 19, all the projects will be completed. I have asked MLA Sopte to make a list of the projects that are nearing completion and of those for which the foundation stone need to be laid,” he said.

The Chief Minister said, “The Cyclone Shelter is equipped with full fledged control room which will provide prior communication to the panchayats with regards to cyclones and other calamities.  It will provide temporary shelter to the people rendered homeless during natural calamities such as cyclone and flooding.”

Sawant said he has directed the officials to form a committee and put the premises to use within a month. The premises can be used throughout the year for organising meetings, programmes and other such activities at minimum cost. The shelter can be used by self help groups for manufacturing and packaging their products, for holding workshops, exhibition, classes, etc, within Pernem taluka.

“The committee once formed will hold programmes and activities in the premises on a daily basis as this will help in keeping the premise well-maintained,” he added.

The Chief Minister said the work of electronic manufacturing cluster got delayed due to pandemic and added that by December 19 he would try to lay the foundation for at least one unit.
