TIVIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the tourism industry in the State had suffered great losses because of the previous Congress government, while the Congress-led government at the Centre was unable to control inflation in the country.
Addressing a meeting at Colvale, Parrikar said the Congress-led government at the Centre had made huge promises to the people that within 100 days it will be able to control inflation, but inflation is still on the rise.
“The LPG cylinder which was priced at Rs 430 was increased to Rs 1,200. People had to get Aadhaar cards done and the subsidy amount was transferred to their bank accounts, some people got the subsidy amount, while many did not get it,” he said. “The Congress government spent huge amounts on the Aadhaar card programme.”
He also spoke about the Shah Commission and said that he will take action against the criminals. “The tourism industry has also suffered great losses because of the previous Congress government in the State,” he added.
North Goa BJP candidate Shripad Naik urged the people to vote for BJP as the BJP government has done things for the public unlike the Congress government. “It was because of the blessings and prayers of the people that I was elected as MP for three terms,” he said.
Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar claimed that the BJP government has done and shown within six years, what the Congress government couldn’t do in 24 years. “Did the Congress government launch any schemes? Inflation is on the rise,” he said.
Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar reminded the people of various schemes initiated by the BJP government and how it had benefitted the people.
“In their manifesto, the Congress has initiated the demand for special status for Goa. Why were they silent all the time when they were in power? If Narendra Modi comes to power, then mining industry will resume within 3 to 4 months,” he added.
