CM calls for meeting on Costa ground

MARGAO: Saying that the government has an open mind on the issue of Costa ground, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has invited a delegation of Aquem Ground Bachao Association on Friday for a meeting to discuss the issue threadbare.

MARGAO: Saying that the government has an open mind on the issue of Costa ground, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has invited a delegation of Aquem Ground Bachao Association on Friday for a meeting to discuss the issue threadbare.
A delegation representing the association called on the Chief Minister during his visit to the Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday and explained to him the popular demand of Aquemkars to save the Costa ground for posterity. They drew attention of the Chief Minister to the Costa ground being the only ground in the Aquem area which met recreational needs of people for over a century now and underlined the need to save it from being turned into a concrete jungle.
After giving a patient hearing, the Chief Minster agreed to meet a delegation of the Committee on Friday morning during his visit to the Lohia Maidan. The meeting which is expected to be held at the Grace Church hall is expected to discuss demands of Aquemkars and the options before the government, including acquisition of the ground.
Later, during an informal chat with media persons, Parrikar said that his government has not adopted any stand on the issue. “The government is open on the issue. I have invited a delegation of the Aquem Ground Bachao Association for discussions on Friday,” he said.
