PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday strongly criticised Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s statement of resolving land issues within eight months.
“Sawant cannot do this. What is the roadmap? BJP has not done this for so many years and they don’t have intentions to do it. Late Manohar Parrikar had amended the Tenancy Act and cases were transferred from mamlatdar courts and Deputy Collector courts to Trial and District Courts and many cases were decided against tenants because of this, Parrikar had to take back this amendment because of public outrage and because of this, cases were kept pending for shifting from this court to that for almost 4-5 years”, AAP’s Surel Tilve said.
Tilve reminded the CM how his government was up for grabbing Melauli land in the name of IIT.
“We have seen how government used its tactics to grab Melauli land in the name of IIT project. Goans know what their right is. Now they are fighting for it. CM Sawant must stop fooling us”, Tilve said.
“Land rights issue is the biggest problem of Goa, both the BJP and Congress have failed to resolve this issue, both the political parties have betrayed the people of Goa,” Tilve charged. “If CM Sawant was so concerned about land rights, he should not have directed his police to arrest peaceful Mopa protesters”, Tilve added.
