ASSAGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant condemned the mob for mishandling tourists and damaging their vehicles.
Speaking on the side-lines of a function at Assagao on Tuesday, the chief minister said that the two incidents that occurred were not good and should not happen in the future.
“The government will control and monitor those indulging in drunken driving. The video which is going viral of the tourists being manhandled and vehicles damaged is sending out a wrong message. If anyone is doing a mistake the people should complain to the authority concerned and not take the law into their own hands,” Sawant said.
“The impact of such incidents will hamper tourism in the long run. How mining has been affected, the same will happen with the tourism industry. If there is some problem or issue the locals should dial 100. Let the police come and take action,” he added.
It may be recalled that a day after an angry mob set fire to a car from Maharashtra that was involved in an accident at Siolim-Chopdem Bridge that killed a father-son duo, two cars were damaged suspecting that the occupants were drunk. Out of the two cars that were attacked, one was a Maharashtra registered and the other Telangana.
