SANGUEM: While fears still loom large of COVID-19 third wave across the Country, it was much ironical to see most of the dignitaries including Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant not wearing face masks during the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new anganwadi at Netravali village under Atal Gram Development Agency.
The situation was literally worse as almost over 70 per cent of the dignitaries were not wearing masks sending a wrong signal to the common man.
While elsewhere “Wear Face Mask”, “Keep Social Distance” and “Sanitise Your Hands Frequently” is the new law adopted in its entirety, one failed to understand what made the dignitaries so careless and that too at a public function.
More surprisingly, the children who wear wearing masks were told to remove the masks as they got themselves ready for a photograph with the Chief Minister sending wrong signal to the masses.
At the foundation laying ceremony for the new Anganwadi, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar briefed the Chief Minister of various issues pertaining Sanguem Constituency and which needs to be taken on urgent basis including that of regular drinking water supply to villages of Uguem, Bhati, Wadem and Netravali and also that of early completion of underground electricity cabling work at Netravali village.
Gaonkar also highlighted the issue of poor Internet connectivity faced by the villagers and the effects the student community is facing due to poor Internet connectivity. Gaonkar urged at least for temporary arrangement of WiFi facilities at each primary school in the villages all over the constituency so that the students would be able to connect with their teachers.
During the course of the day, a foundation stone was also laid for beautification project at Our Lady of Pilar Chapel at Netravali village.
