Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant played down the imposition of Section 144 in the State saying such notification are issued frequently and there nothing to panic for locals as well as tourists. Imposing Section 144 does not mean total ban on any government or private activities, he said on the sidelines of inauguration of Aqua festival at Campal. “Be it cultural festivals or government activity there would be no difference,” he said. He sId there is no need to panic as the notifications on Section 144 is routine. “Tourists should also not worry about the threat in the State. Police are doing their duty and it is routine,” he said. On the appointment of the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Goa, Sawant said that the government has no role. “It is the Home Ministry which has to appoint new DGP,” he said.
