VASCO: Mormugao Planning and Development Authority(MPDA) is in the process to identify new space for airport parking area. As per the instruction of Chief Minister, the Shantinagar area will be excluded as a parking area from Outline Development Plan (ODP) said MPDA official.
Ashok Kumar, member secretary MPDA informed that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has instructed the MPDA to exclude the Shantinagar area which has been shown as a parking area for airport on the MPDA Outline Development Plan as there are around 500 houses present in the Shantinagar which are decades old.
He further said that they have also received 109 signatures from the Shantinagar people objecting and asking not to show Shantinagar area as a parking area of airport citing there are houses in the area.
Reportedly few days ago this issue of airport parking area surfaced and Shantinagar area was shown as a parking area for airport in the ODP. People along with the councillors were in panic about this matter, but during the recent visit of CM Sawant, he asked MPDA to remove the Shantinagar area as a parking area for airport from ODP.
