VASCO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said he feels double tracking will be a game-changer as it would benefit industries, tourism, passengers, etc.

He made this statement during his visit to the Verna Industrial Estate for the inauguration of two traffic signal points.

On the claims made by the South Western Railway officials that the double tracking would prove to be a game-changer, Sawant said, “Double tracking by South Western Railway is not only for coal, it is also for passengers, tourism, to transport other commodities, etc.”

He admitted that at present from this track coal is being transported but, was quick to state that the efforts are being made to cut down the coal handling by half.

He mentioned that work should be done using technology to cut down pollution. For the industries, double tracking will be a game-changer.

On the Major Port Authorities Bill, the CM said, “Under Sagarmala initiative some things which were shown by the consultant in the plan need to be deleted. The consultant has designed the blueprint and sent to the Government of India. However, not all ports will be included in the bill.”

Sawant said, “From this academic year, a separate one-year skilling course under the Skill Development Ministry will commence for ITI students.”

On CSR Society, he said, “The Society has been established recently so that various CSR activities by companies will be carried out at individual level. This society will facilitate the CSR fund and help those companies who reach out to maximum number of people. Our technical team will also lend its support.”
