MARGAO: Comunidades in South Goa have slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his statement on how the government will be bringing an amendment to the Code of Comunidades to regularise illegal houses on comunidade land and to prevent the demolition of such houses.
The CM also mentioned that irrespective of resistance shown by comunidades at attempts for similar amendments in the past, he has already held a meeting with the Panchayat and Revenue Minister, regarding the proposed amendment, which would be brought in after it is scrutinised by the Law Department and Attorney General.
“Such statements purporting to put a premium on squatting on comunidade land coming from high constitutional functionaries is unfortunate,” said Celestino Noronha, the Attorney of Comunidades of Margao and Aquem
