PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar Wednesday disclosed his positive inclination to have an IIT, an IIM, in addition to an AIIMS and the NIT.
“I am positively inclined. I have told the departments concerned to look for land…non-productive land,” he told the media, adding that land acquisition for the NIT had reached an advanced stage.
The State government had acquired land in South Goa for an educational hub and land is being acquired for the NIT at Cuncolim.
Parrikar also refused to comment when asked about his view on the Governor B V Wanchoo issue saying that he had already communicated to the Prime Minister his stand on the issue.
The local BJP had demanded his resignation over the helicopter purchase scam.
“As a Chief Minister, I have told the Prime Minister whatever I have to say about it,” Parrikar told the media two days after local BJP held a press conference demanding the resignation of the Governor as he was being investigated in the Augusta Westland VVIP chopper purchase.
Parrikar said that he was not against the party but the party did not have constitutional obligations but as Chief Minister he had them.
