CM: govt will focus on human development

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that the government would lay emphasis on human development along with the infrastructural development of the State.
Addressing a gathering to mark the World Press Freedom Day at Kala Academy on Friday, he said that he would carry forward ex-CM Manohar Parrikar’s vision of ‘Golden Goa’.
“The infrastructural development of the State is ongoing but we will also give importance to human development. Our former CM’s vision of Golden Goa will be carried forward and this can be achieved by active participation of the media,” he said.
Ever since taking over the reins of the State following the demise of Parrikar on March 17, Sawant has been emphasizing on carrying forward the “glorious legacy” of good governance left behind by his mentor and successor, Parrikar.
The CM also spoke about the evolution of media and assured that his government would be informative and help the media in any possible way.
“Under this ministry, the media shall enjoy autonomy while performing its functions,” he said further emphasizing on the role of media as the middle person in passing the information from the government to the public. “We don’t even stop the opposition from making their points, why would we curtail the rights of the media,” he commented.
The event was also attended by the Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar among others.
