PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday hinted that he might give additional portfolios to his cabinet Ministers before the October Legislative Assembly session.
Speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, Parrikar said that the public will be able to see his Ministers replying to the questions pertaining to their new portfolios, most of which are currently with him.
“Everything is done…you will see the change in the coming assembly session…ministers will reply to questions of new departments,” he said.
The Chief Minister said he had completed evaluating the performance of the Ministers.
There are seven first time ministers in BJP-MGP cabinet of the 12. While Parrikar holds around 25 portfolios, Alina has only one ~Forest and Environment.
Dilip Parulekar, Mahadev Naik, Pandurang Dhavalikar, Milind Naik, Ramesh Tawadkar, Avertano Furtado and Alina are first time legislators, holding several prime portfolios.
BJP legislator Vishnu Wagh, who has been expressing his displeasure about the functioning of the government is also in the running. However, Chief Minister has already made it clear that there won’t be cabinet reshuffle nor any Minister would be dropped.
It may be recalled that Parrikar, soon after assuming charge in March 2012, had allotted two portfolios each to seven ministers. He had then promised to allot one more portfolio within six months, after evaluating their performance.
