VASCO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a meeting with the officials of various government departments in the port town and Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and reviewed the ongoing developmental works in the Vasco Constituency, recently.
During his visit to the port town, the Chief Minister took stock of the various development works in progress.
Later, briefing the media persons, Sawant said, “The purpose of my visit was to review the developmental projects which are in progress. Major works which are taken under Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) such as renovation of municipal building will be completed within four months. Pending works of roads due to expenditure sanction and other works will be completed by November.”
Further, the Chief Minister mentioned that the tourism related works such as cleaning of Baina Beach will be taken up.
He also directed the Water Resources Department officials to desilt the nullah after the monsoons.
“The repair work of the damaged roof sheets of the playground during the recent cyclone will be taken up shortly and the project of fish market will be completed in time,” he informed.
On the electricity power supply front, Sawant said, “The work of underground cabling at Baina is in the final stages of completion. Cabling work worth Rs 46 crore is under process and waiting for finance and expenditure sanction.”
“The concerned officials have been directed to redress the issue of frequent power failures and work to provide uninterrupted power supply,” he remarked.
The Vasco MLA thanked the Chief Minister for reviewing the ongoing works in the port town and chairing meeting with government officials.
Directorate of Municipal Administration Director Gurudas Pilarnkar, Director of Water Resources Department Pramod Badami, Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer Jayant Tari, Chief Executive Engineer Raghuvir Keni, former chairperson and present councillor Dipak Naik were present.
