Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday held a meeting to review issues pertaining to major and minor minerals in the State. Sawant held the meeting at the Directorate of Mines and Geology, which was attended by Secretary Mines, Advocate General and Director Mines. Speaking to media persons, Sawant said that the meeting was basically held to review issues related to major and minor minerals and to decide on some policy matter. Sawant also said that the review was held with regards to iron ore mining matter pending in the Supreme Court. “Also, we took stock of all the communications made to Centre so far for resumption of mining activities in the State,” he said. The CM however did not disclose any further details of the meeting. Last week, a delegation of mining dependents under Goa Mining People’s Front had called on the CM demanding that steps should be taken to ensure iron ore activities resume from the coming season in November. Sawant had assured to hold special meeting on the issue.
