CM insists departments adopt villages to achieve ‘Swayampurna Goa’

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has insisted that each department adopts at least one village and ensure that all the government schemes are implemented towards making it self sufficient to achieve the cause of ‘Swayampurna Goa’. 

Sawant on Monday chaired a meeting of the Empowered Working Group (EWG) on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa’ initiate and reviewed the achievement of individual stakeholder of the Swayampurna mission. 

Sawant maintained that each department should adopt at least one village and that each Head of the Department visit the village once a week to understand the ground reality. He said that departments will have to ensure that all the State as well as Central government schemes are implemented in the village. 

Sawant also suggested proper utilisation of funds while emphasising the need to have a time bound action plan. 

The Chief Minister directed to reach out to the people with wide publicity on Swayampurna Goa initiative and need to hold special gram sabhas to promote the same. 

For smooth functioning of the project and for proper inter-departmental coordination, Sawant suggested that each department appoints a nodal officer.  

During the meeting, it was decided that there is a need to compile important data on Goa about geographical resources, demography, water resources, forest resources, agricultural produce, horticultural produce, animal husbandry, fisheries, tourism industry, other industries, transportation and other economic indicators.

The General Secretary DRID, Atul Jain, said referring to prime minister’s speech on August 15, 2020, that the objective of Swaympurna Goa can be adopted effectively. Collective efforts are very much required to accomplish this goal, he pointed.
